At present there is one study using vascular targeted PDT for prostate cancer in UK. It is being run at University College London Hospitals Trust. The urologist in charge of the study is Mr Mark Emberton.
Can I take part in this study?
This study is suitable for men who:
- Have prostate cancer confined to the prostate (localised disease – see prostate cancer section for further details)
- Do not wish to have curative treatment at present, or are currently having active surveillance
- Have not had any surgery on the prostate, including treatment for benign prostate enlargement
- Are reasonably healthy, and do not have heart disease, in particular, are able to travel to University College London Hospital for study tests, treatment and follow up
