Current studies in Canada

What studies are currently being carried out using vascular targeted PDT for prostate cancer?

At present there is one study using Vascular-Targeted PDT for non-metastatic localized prostate cancer previously treated with radiotheraphy. It is being conducted by four urologists in Canada. These urologists are based in Montreal, QC; Toronto, Oakville and London, ON.

Can I take part in this study?

This study is suitable for men who:
  • Have had their prostate cancer previously treated by external beam radiotherapy or temporary brachytherapy a minimum of 24 months ago
  • Have had 3 consecutive increases in PSA at least 3 months apart following radiotherapy
  • Have not had any previous surgery to the prostate including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), high intensity focussed ultrasound (HIFU) therapy or cryotherapy
